Apocalypse Countdown

With the imminent end of the Mayan calendar on 21.12.12., there’s no better time for VisionTV to present the first (perhaps last?) APOCALYPSE COUNTDOWN, two weeks of compelling new original documentary series exploring the origins, implications, repercussions, and psychology of doomsday thinking, from Zarathustra 3000 years ago to today.

APOCALYPSE … WHEN?
(5 X 30 minute episodes)

Apocalypse...When?: Series Host and Writer Brian Paisley

Called “a thinking person’s guide to doomsday” by producer/director David Springbett, APOCALYPSE … WHEN? features a range of scholars – both secular and religious – from across Canada and the US who set out to decode our ongoing spiritual and cultural penchant for global destruction. They look to answer why humans keep anticipating the end of the world? How can we discern fact from fancy, conjecture from reality? Do we really understand the meaning of the Mayan time keeping system? And what happens … when nothing happens?

Says host Brian Paisley, “The apocalypse used to be something people looked at as the wrath of God, destruction followed by final judgment, the separation of the blessed and the damned. Now, in a more scientific world, the Apocalypse has become something of our own creation, a distinct possibility we can only avoid if we make some hard choices about the way we live and how we treat our planet.”

Premiering from Monday, November 19 through Friday, November 23, 2012 at 11pm ET/8pm PT, episodes include Where Did We Get This Strange Notion?, How Do You Know a Prophet?, The Great Disappointment, Do It Yourself Doomsday, and Apocalypse Not!…Is It Up To Us?.

I PROPHESY: The Future Revealed

Every historical era has had its prophets, visionaries and oracles who held their public rapt by their powerful prophecies and predictions. The new I PROPHESY series examines some of the key prophets, past and contemporary, using hard-hitting re-enactments and CGI to immerse the viewer in the scenarios. All to ask: are we really on the edge of an abyss of change?
