Investigative Documentarian Simcha Jacobovici to be Honoured at Canadian Screen Awards

On March 12 at the Canadian Screen Awards, acclaimed, director, producer, investigative journalist TV host and New York Times best-selling author, Simcha Jacobovici, will be presented with the esteemed Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism.

“[The] Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism is presented to a Broadcast Journalist for an exceptional body of work in Canadian television journalism, or for significant contribution to the international profile of Canadian television journalism not necessarily in a single year,” explains The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.

A three-time Emmy Award-winner, Jacobovici was the driving force behind a selection of highly praised, fascinating VisionTV programs and series like “Biblical Forensics: Real Faces of the Bible,” “The Jesus Discovery, “Biblical Conspiracies” and “The Naked Archaeologist”

Reads a statement issued by Jacobovici’s through his website: “I’m getting Mazel Tovs and high fives from far and near. The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has just announced that I will be receiving the prestigious Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism at the next Canadian Screen Awards on Sunday, March 12, 2017. The award is the highest honour in Canadian Television Journalism for a body of consistent work. It’s given by one’s peers. Icons of Canadian Television Journalism have received it. I am both humbled and grateful.”

Throughout his multi-decade career, Jacobovici has received a number of accolades including the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia Award for Excellence in Broadcast journalism, a pair of Donald Brittain Awards, a Canadian Screen Award, as well as a Certificate of Special Merit from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles.
