The series Ageless Gardens is a visual celebration of gardens, with a special emphasis on the role gardens can play in healthy aging.

The physical, mental, and social aspects of gardening can be important therapeutic factors in health and wellness. Gardening can bring us food, physical exercise, and keep our minds sharp as we age. Learning to adapt to changing physical, familial, and social situations is key to continuing to garden into our retirement years.

Ageless Gardens, Season 4 continues to prove that gardening is an important therapeutic activity, no matter your age. This season brings a fresh group of inspiring gardeners, telling their personal stories and explaining how and why they garden.

Season 4 features a wide-range of gardeners from across Canada, including obsessed plant collectors, lawn bowlers, nature sanctuary volunteers, marathon runners, writers, and renowned visual artists. Their shared love of gardening helps contribute to their personal health and vitality.

SEASON 4 EPISODES

Episode 1: The World in a Garden
(June 5, 2023 at 9:30pm ET / 6:30pm PT)

A retired flight attendant grows tropicals at a lawn bowling club, amid the beauty of Vancouver’s skyline. A limit-pushing gardener brings the exotic plants together in one place, only to reconsider when an unusually frigid winter occurs. A collector of thousands of heritage plants stays busy in the garden all year long.

Episode 2: Gardening for the Joy of It
(June 12, 2023 at 9:30pm ET / 6:30pm PT)

A journalist with a life-threatening illness creates a garden to help overcome it. A conservationist demonstrates how stamina gained in the garden helps her run marathons. A 90-year-old continues to do all of her own gardening. A jovial life-long gardener shares his garden’s abundance with friends and family.

Episode 3: Environmental Gardens
(June 19, 2023 at 9:30pm ET / 6:30pm PT)

An IT dad designs an innovative high-tech growing system, that helps provide for people in need. A pioneering garden advocate shows how front yard gardens lessen the environmental impact of a regular lawn. A volunteer learns patience, while restoring a nature sanctuary. A mother discusses the ecological balance of her family vegetable garden.

Episode 4: The Garden as Teacher
(June 26, 2023 at 9:30pm ET / 6:30pm PT)

A master gardener and life-long learner inspires a younger generation with her latest children’s book about bees. A gardener tends native plants in a natural educational garden. A garden designer listens to what the garden teaches her.

Episode 5: Art in the Garden
(July 3, 2023 at 9:30pm ET / 6:30pm PT)

A printmaker turns her lush garden into a living art gallery, where dancers, visual artists, and musicians all come together. A cosmopolitan artist combines floral imagery in playful and complex works, and finds inspiration growing in his back alley.
