Reverend Daniel Cooper (Cameron Daddo) has come to Hope Island to reopen the Community Church, hoping the assignment will help him through the grief of a terrible loss. When he arrives, he finds that everything isn’t what he expected it to be and he struggles with whether to stay. Over time, the charming community and its quirky inhabitants grow on Rev. Cooper and he becomes an ingrained and invaluable member of the community.

The quaint and endearing townsfolk include a restaurant/inn owner and her son, the scheming, wheeling and dealing mayor and his sidekick, an estranged mother/daughter set of general store owners, the mayor’s daughter and her boyfriend, who is the island’s sole police officer.

Hope Island‘s 22 episodes originally aired on PAX-TV in the U.S. in 1999 – 2000 The series is based on the BBC One drama series Ballykissangel.
