In today’s world of global economics and dissolving borders, perhaps no group has come to embody Western prosperity like the Jews. Although the perception of the Jews as world’s bankers, lenders and traders is by fragments rooted in reality, it more accurately represents the continuation of a libel that spans the ages. The tragic twists and turns in the kidnapping for ransom of a young French Jew, Ilan Halimi, begins a roller coaster ride around the world and across the centuries, in search of the origins and future of this enduring myth.
