In Quantum Leap, brilliant physicist, Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula), leads a secret government project to develop the ability to time travel. With no significant progress made after some time and his funding threatened, he decides to test his Quantum Leap accelerator himself to try to save the project. Dr. Beckett is indeed transported back in time but, gains consciousness to find he’s ‘leapt’ into the body and life of someone else, with partial amnesia as to who he really is.

Dr. Beckett’s friend, Admiral Al Calavicci (Dean Stockwell), appears as a hologram, visible and audible only to Sam, and helps to explain to Sam that he must correct something that went wrong in the past. With additional help from the Quantum Leap project’s supercomputer Ziggy (voiced by Deborah Pratt), the belief is that once the past is corrected Sam should be able to leap back to the present.

Despite successfully correcting the past, Sam continues to leap randomly to another place and time within the second half of the 20th century, “putting things right that once went wrong and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home.”

Quantum Leap is the promise of a second chance. With each “leap”, Sam is given the opportunity to make things right – change the lives of the people he becomes for the better and, in the end, hopefully make the world a better place.

Created by Donald P. Bellasario and originally airing on NBC from 1989 to 1993, Quantum Leap is a wonderful mix of science fiction, drama, humor, adventure, romance and social commentary. We’re excited to present our premiere of all five seasons of this classic series weekdays at 6pm ET from Sept. 9, 2020 through Jan. 21, 2021 on VisionTV.
