In the season 1 finale of 50 Ways to Kill Your Mum, Parenthood star Monica Potter and her mum Nancy are expanding their horizons with an action-packed adventure in Miami. Over the course of one week, they’ll tackle their greatest fears for a bonding experience they’ll never forget.
Monica had a rocky relationship with her mum growing up, but they’ve been steadily getting closer the older they get. Nancy was a strict and orderly parent and still doesn’t love the idea of leaving Monica in charge of their itinerary. Knowing her mum’s fearful of water, snakes and alligators, Monica has the perfect chance to push Nancy’s buttons while giving her a much needed confidence boost.
“The reason why I chose to do this adventure with my mom is because she is outgoing,” says Monica. “She’s fun. I sort of want to pull her out of her shell a little bit. I wanted the old mom back.”
“Whatever Monica has planned for us this week, I’m really gonna try my best,” says Nancy. “Just because I want to say I did it. As long as it’s not water.”

Naturally, their first destination is an aquarium where they’ll go diving in a giant tank full of stingrays, sharks, and a various native sea creatures. Nancy’s immediately freaked out and Monica tries her best to calm her, but when Monica’s own claustrophobia starts bubbling up, she starts second guessing the whole plan. Can Monica get Nancy in the water while keeping her own fears at bay?
Afterwards, Monica’s putting her mum’s athletic ability to the test on an outdoor trapeze. The experts make it look easy, but both Monica and Nancy seriously doubt if they can pull this off. Nancy’s determined to give it her best shot, but unfortunately her aching shoulder presents a challenge. Can Monica soar high in the sky and tackle this challenge for the both of them?

Monica and Nancy aren’t finished getting to know the local wildlife. Monica surprises her mum with her very worst nightmare – a meet and greet with reptiles. When a giant python makes its way around Monica’s shoulders, Nancy is petrified and angry with her daughter for putting her through this. Of course, Monica can’t help but taunt her frightened mum with a baby alligator. Nancy’s ready to wrap things up, but the challenge isn’t over yet. It’s feeding time!



For the last adventure, Monica is pushing her mum to do something she’s had on her bucket list for 15 years. The ladies will venture out on the open water and take in the beautiful coast line while parasailing. Monica does her best to reassure her mum that she’ll be completely safe, but is it enough for Nancy to move past her initial fear and finally enjoy herself?
