60 is the new 50. Retirees are no longer getting ready to think about choosing a rest home. Instead, they are seeking out retirement communities that rival vacation resorts and cater to their unique passions, from arts classes and hippie hangouts to partying until dawn.
In this film we follow one couple, Deb and Ron, as they are setting out to explore how they want to spend the next chapter in their lives. Active and outgoing Zoomers, they are itching to get on the road and see what kind of locale might be a good fit for them. From moving to a foreign country and learning a new language to potentially swapping their urban life for a more rural setting – everything is on the table.
From the picturesque artsy town of San Miguel d’Allende in Mexico, onto the lush greenery of the sustainable community of Serenbe in Georgia and even considering a cruise ship in the Bahamas – Ron and Deb take a wild ride across the continent. They meet retired snowbirds and intrepid travelers, emigrants and seniors permanently embarked on a cruise liner. Will any of these opportunities be a good fit for Deb and Ron?
ABOUT DEB AND RON
Deb and Ron have been together “forever” but that doesn’t stop them from being head-over-heels in love like the day they first met. Both have enjoyed long and illustrious careers and they aren’t ready to “slow down” yet. Her love of painting and his passion for music complement each other perfectly.
Spontaneity is Deb’s middle name, one errand usually delivers ten diversions and lots of adventure, while Ron enjoys a little more routine but goes along with her anyway. Self-described “culture vultures” Ron and Deb think nothing of heading out on the town after midnight to take in a concert at their local blues bar. Together they’re the team the world of Zoomers has been waiting for and Ron and Deb are feeling the call of the open road. Young at heart and wild in spirit, they’re ready for the adventure of a lifetime.
