A weak nephew cooperates with his uncle in his own fake kidnapping to break a trust fund and is murdered for his trouble. Ray Milland co-stars with Peter Falk as Lt. Columbo

Uncle Jarvis Goodland (Milland) collects expensive rare plants and murders his nephew Tony (Bradford Dillman) to get money to support his hobby. The money must come from a trust fund which can only be broken in an emergency. Columbo’s investigation is hampered by the eager Sgt. Wilson (Bob Dishy), assigned to help him on the case. (1972)
