David Bowie 2016

When David Bowie passed away suddenly at the beginning of 2016, the outpouring of grief and praise for the man’s life was widespread. Musicians spoke highly of his influence, while friends offered stories about what Mr. Ziggy Stardust was like behind the scenes.

“David was a great star and I treasure the moments we had together,” commented Paul McCartney following Bowie’s death. “His music played a very strong part in British musical history and I’m proud to think of the huge influence he has had on people all around the world.”

Another great Bowie tribute to come out has been an incredible piece created by graphic artist, Nigel French. Clearly, a Bowie fan – or someone who takes a lot of pleasure in researching a subject – has created a London Underground tube map that instead of stops, features elements related to Bowie.

On this map, stops are named after Bowie songs, albums, creative periods, influences, people connected to him, as well as references to his acting career. You can see the map below.

Sized 16.54 x 23.39 inches, this fascinating Bowie-themed print is available for £90.00. Only 100 of these maps are available to purchase.

While on French’s website, be sure to have a look at his extensive portfolio. It features a wide collection of works, including many that are UK-themed and song lyric-based.

This isn’t too unlike The Great British Television Map that artist Tim Ritz created to reflect where some of the finest U.K. series’ are set and filmed. Click here to have a look at that.
